Frequently Asked Questions
Select section:- Question: Remote machine is inaccessible from the Agents Management Console
- Answer:
The problem may occur for one of several reasons:
- You did not enter or entered incorrectly the admin login or password
- Remote machine uses Windows Home Edition OS. Unfortunately, in this case the problem cannot be solved.
- Remote machine uses Office Edition of Windows (for example, WinXP Prof), but in the "Folder Settings" Windows Explorer dialog, the "Use simple file and folder sharing" option is enabled. Disable this option and try again.
- Question: The record "Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one username, are disallowed. Disconnect all previous connection to the server or shared resource and try again" appears in the Agents Management
- Answer:
This is a restriction of the Windows operating system.
The system allows only one shared connection from one computer to another.
Please do the following:- run the net use command
- then delete all the network connections using the following command:
net use "connectioname" /delete
for example:
net use \\server\SharedFolder /delete
And then try to reinstall the remote agent.
If it does not help, please check your target machine:
- It is not running Windows XP Home. Windows XP Home is lacking some of the network functionality required by remote PAM Agents
- The Workstation service is running (check using services.msc)
- The Server service is running (check using services.msc)
- The Admin$ share is available (check using computer management)
- Windows Network is running and Printer and File Sharing are activated (no need to actually share anything)
- Incoming network users are authenticated as themselves
