WinGate Internet Client Logon
WinGate Internet Client Logon Dialog
You can require users to securely authenticate themselves through the WinGate Internet Client.
This is configured in the WRP Service policies using GateKeeper.
Requiring users to authenticate for WRP has the following advantages:
- Prevents unauthorized users gaining Internet access from unattended computers;
- Prevents users installing their own unauthorized copy of the WinGate Internet Client;
- Provides improved control and logging of individual users
To configure WinGate to authenticate users with WGIC:
- Open GateKeeper
- Log on as Administrator
- Open the properties for the WRP Service.
- Click on the Policies configuration.
- Click Add to add recipients to the policy(typically this will be Everyone)
- Select the User must be authenticated option from the radio button group.
- Click OK
- On the Policy configuration of the WRP service set the Default rights (System Policies) combo box to are ignored or as appropriate.(typically this will be are ignored)
Now all client computers will be presented with the WGIC logon dialog the first time an application attempts.
