- Sharing your Internet connection
- When it was first released in October 1995, WinGate was the world's first Internet connection sharing proxy solution for MS Windows, allowing users simultaneous access to the internet over a single connection. Since then WinGate has evolved into a sophisticated yet easy-to-use Internet connectivity management suite.
- Firewall Protection
- WinGate also acts as a packet-level firewall, protecting you and your network from attacks from the Internet, and alerting you to potential issues. As well as a packet-level firewall, WinGate also provides higher protocol-level controls to allow you greater flexibility in controlling the activities you wish to permit through your Internet connection.
- Virus Protection and Content Filtering for Email, Web, and File Transfers (FTP)
- WinGate 6 supports several third party data scanning plugins, such as PureSight for WinGate (a web content filtering product using technology from PureSight Inc.), and Kaspersky AntiVirus for WinGate (the respected AntiVirus solution from Kaspersky Labs). WinGate supports scanning of email retrieval, reception and delivery, web browsing (including uploads), and FTP. WinGate will even scan your email as you retrieve it via WinGate from a remote mail server. Keep an eye on the WinGate website for more plugins as they become available.
- Comprehensive secure email system with advanced spam rejection measures
- WinGate includes a fully-featured mail server (POP3 and SMTP receiving/delivery) designed specifically for ease of configuration and use, security (with comprehensive support for secure connections and authentication methods) and also providing enhanced protection against spam. Many email servers are complex and difficult to administer. WinGate however, is simple to use; yet its also powerful, flexible, quick, and reliable. A new feature in WinGates mail server is its rejection of spoofed sender addresses, which comprises over 90% of all SPAM.
- Remote and Home Office network connection with WinGate Virtual Private Networking
- WinGate 6 offers a fully integrated VPN solution (additional license required). This allows you to connect remote offices or mobile users into your corporate network for file sharing, printing, or other business-specific applications. If you purchase the necessary WinGate VPN licenses, your home and mobile users, and remote offices will be able to use the resources of your network as if they were plugged into it directly (depending on the speed of your internet connections, performance may vary). Special considerations were paid to network browsing, and system configuration to make this an extremely easy VPN to get up and running, and then use, without sacrificing security, flexibility or functionality.
