Error reporting and feedback
ISA Server 2004 introduces Microsoft Error Reporting. This feature allows you to send information to Microsoft about errors you may encounter when running ISA Server.
When you log on as Local Administrator on the ISA Server computer, you might see a dialog box called Microsoft Error Reporting. This dialog box shows errors that have been encountered while using Windows applications, including ISA Server. Sending ISA Server error reports to Microsoft provides technical information for the product team, and helps us track and address specific issues. Error reporting data is used for quality control purposes only. It is not used for tracking individual users or installations for any marketing purpose. You can send ISA Server error reporting information as follows:
- Send directly over the Internet to Microsoft using HTTPS. To do this, click Send Reports Now in the Microsoft Error Reporting dialog box. ISA Server has a system policy rule enabled by default to allow HTTP/HTTPS traffic from the Local Host network to the Microsoft error reporting site. For more information about the system policy, see System policy.
- Use the Corporate Error Reporting tool. If your organization has configured Group Policy, administrators can use Corporate Error Reporting to collect and selectively report errors to Microsoft. When this is enabled, errors are automatically redirected to the server on which Corporate Error Reporting is installed.
Documentation feedback
In addition, the online Help included with ISA Server has a content rating system built into the document. You can rate each page and send comments to the ISA Server documentation team. The ISA Server documentation team welcomes your suggestions and comments about the documentation.
Note that to send e-mail messages from the ISA Server computer using an SMTP message located on the Internal network, you must enable the system policy rule that allows the Local Host network to access the Internal network using the SMTP protocol. In the System Policy Editor, in the Remote Monitoring configuration group, select SMTP and then click Enable. The Allow SMTP protocol from firewall to trusted servers rule is enabled.
