Security and Administration

Because Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 can be deployed at the edge of the network, it is critical that the computer on which you run ISA Server is fully secured.

Because of its sensitive role, ISA Server should be carefully administered, with permissions delegated carefully. Regular backups of the configuration should be performed. If you deploy more than one ISA Server computer, consider exporting configurations so that the configuration process is more automated.

This section describes security and administration considerations and provides step-by-step instructions on how to secure and administer ISA Server.
