Troubleshooting installation
After installation, the Microsoft Firewall service cannot start.
Cause: This error happens when ISA Server cannot resolve the name of the ISA Server computer. The following error message may appear:
Cannot load an application filter Web Proxy Filter ({4CB7513E-220E-4C20-815A-B67BAA295FF4}).
FilterInit failed with code 0x80072afc.
To attempt to activate this application filter again, stop and restart the Firewall service.
Solution: Configure the DNS server so that the name of the ISA Server computer can be resolved.
During installation, "The Internal Network must contain at least one of the ISA Server computer's IP" error message appears.
Cause: ISA Server installation uses name resolution to determine the local IP addresses, required for constructing the Internal network. However, a line in the HOSTS file also contains that information.
Solution: Check the HOSTS file, located in the %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts folder. Remove the following line: IP ISA_Server_Name.
