Import a configuration

To import a configuration

  1. In the console tree of ISA Server Management, click the ISA Server computer name.
  2. Where?

    • Microsoft ISA Server 2004
    • Server_Name
  3. On the Tasks tab, click Import from an Exported ISA Configuration file.
  4. In Look in, browse to the folder with the file you are importing.
  5. In File name, specify the file name of the .xml file you are importing.
  6. To import user permissions, click Import user permission settings. This option is only available if user permissions were exported.
  7. To import server specific details, such as cache drive settings, click Import server specific details. This option is only available if this information was exported.
  8. If confidential information was exported with the file, specify the password required to decrypt the confidential information.

Notes

  • To open ISA Server Management, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft ISA Server, and then click ISA Server Management.
  • You must import the configuration file at the same node that the file was originally created. For example, if the .xml file was created for a specific rule, you must import the file at the Firewall Policy node.
  • When you import a configuration file from the same computer more than once, any configuration information originally imported from that computer is overwritten. The settings currently configured on the ISA Server are not affected; the information in the imported file is simply added to the existing configuration.
